stunning location - or Maggie Grace? The beach blonde star tells
Caroline Graham about the wild off-set parties, her island fling - and
her airlift to Hollywood:
With its twisting plotline and desert-island setting, Lost is the
ultimate escapist drama. But for Maggie Grace, who plays spoiled brat
Shannon Rutherford in the hit show, filming in one of the world's most
exotic locations wasn't quite as glamorous as it sounded.
"When they told me I was going to be filming in Hawaii, I had images of cocktails on the beach," says the 22-year-old blonde.
"But the reality couldn't have been more different. I had to crash
through the jungle in a skimpy bikini, was bitten to death and ended up
with bumps, scrapes and bruises on every part of my body. During one
scene we filmed on an abandoned farm in the middle of the jungle, and I
was literally rolling around in pig filth all day."
Despite the arduous nature of filming in Hawaii, Grace says the
island's natural beauty overcame all the physical obstacles. "It was
wild and remote," she says. "It felt like we really were on some
deserted island and about as far from the real world as you could
imagine. The conditions were tough, but the island more than made up
for that. We saw exploding volcanoes, unspoilt rainforests - it was
